The Virginia Court of Appeals upheld the denial of disability benefits to a man who was unable to work after a partially disabling injury because of the worsening of a pre-existing health condition.

Facts: Carnell Carrington began working for the Aquatic Co. in 1992. When the company hired him, it had notice that Carrington suffered from polycystic kidney disease. The disease did not affect the type of work Carrington did for Aquatic, although it did require him to miss work on occasion.
