The U.S. Postal Service received a $342,059 fine late last month for mishandling workers' exposure to infectious bodily fluids.
This spring, workers at the U.S. Postal Service annex in Baltimore's Brooklyn neighborhood handled packages that were leaking blood and other fluids, but the office did not have a written policy for how they were to do so. They also cleaned up pools of blood and fluids but were not tested for exposure to bloodborne pathogens, or given access to hepatitis B vaccines.
