The Virginia state Senate voted to approve a bill that will stop the statute of limitations from running in instances where an employer fails to report an injury, and also passed a measure that adds three new types of cancers to the state’s presumption law.
The Senate voted 39-0 on Friday to approve House Bill 2022, by Delegate Kathleen Murphy, D-McLean. The bill tolls the two-year statute of limitations for filing a claim if the employer had provided medical benefits to an injured worker but failed to report the accident to the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission.
