Louisiana has become the latest state to grapple with the role of pharmacogenetic testing in workers' compensation claims.
After learning that an injured worker was asked to submit to genetic testing at the third-party administrator Broadspire's request, the Office of Workers' Compensation made plans to issue a bulletin about the state's stance on such testing.
The bulletin will reiterate that genetic testing is not covered under the state's medical treatment guidelines and cannot be mandated, OWC director Sheral Kellar confirmed.
