Interpreters See Victory in Failed Court Case

A California appellate court decision dismissing a constitutional challenge to the lien declaration provisions in Senate Bill 1160 was not a complete loss, according to one of the plaintiffs in the case. While interpreters were unable to persuade the 1st District Court of Appeals in Sacramento to issue an injunction prohibiting the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board from enforcing the new lien filing requirements, they did get better instruction from state regulators on how to comply with the law when filing liens, according to Lorena Ortiz Schneider. “It was kind of interesting...
