Bill Will Allow Direct Deposit of WC Benefits

Starting in January, injured workers should be able to receive compensation benefits through direct deposit, if the governor signs Senate Bill 84 into law.

The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Donna Soucy, D-Manchester, passed the New Hampshire House and Senate this week, and will take effect Jan. 1 if the governor signs it.

Employers or their insurance carriers must notify workers of the new option, and workers may choose to receive benefit payments by direct deposit instead of by paper check.

Benefit deposits should start within six weeks of the disability date, the bill reads.
