LAPD Officer Arrested on Suspicion of Work Comp Fraud

Wednesday, January 24, 2018 | 0

A nine-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested on fraud charges for allegedly engaging in physical activities that were not consistent with his claimed injury.

The department said Jason Gordon, 48, was arrested Jan. 17 on a felony warrant for alleged workers’ compensation fraud and attempted perjury. Gordon in 2015 filed a claim for an injury he claimed to have suffered while working for the department’s Valley Traffic Division.

The LAPD said its investigators working with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Healthcare Fraud Division and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office “established probable cause to believe that Officer Gordon knowingly engaged in physical workout activities inconsistent with his claimed injury.”

Gordon was booked and released after posting $40,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 7, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
