Amid ballooning indemnity costs, Spokane County has implemented a light-duty return-to-work program that it estimates will save $200,000 per year.
The county, which is self-insured save for a policy that covers high-cost claims, saw its indemnity expenses rise from $89,000 to $579,500 in 2013, according to a Tuesday article on the Spokane Spokesman-Review's website. Six months after implementing its return-to-work program, the county has saved $100,000.
