N.Y. Social Worker Jailed for Phony Billings

A 59-year-old social worker who pleaded guilty in February to submitting phony bills to health care agencies and insurance carriers was sentenced to a year in federal prison.Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Rogowski said in a statement this week that Rhonn Gilchrist, of Tonawanda, admitted submitting bills for $102,000 to health care agencies covering services he never rendered to patients.Prosecutors also said Gilchrist double-billed two insurance companies for treatment provided to one patient.
