The Alaska Workers’ Compensation Division is suspending through May 11 the collection of penalties for operating without insurance coverage in order to provide relief to businesses struggling with the economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
“This does not eliminate an employer’s responsibility to provide workers’ compensation coverage under the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act,” the division said in a bulletin released Wednesday.
