Contractor Fined for Exposing Workers to 20-Foot Falls

The federal workplace safety agency fined a Florida contractor $200,000 for ignoring its fall protection standards at two work sites. Chris Sawdo Construction LLC, of Middleburg, ordered workers to install roofing at heights of 20 feet without a system in place to catch them if they fell. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommended that the company look into using safety harnesses, safety nets and guardrails.
