New York Gov. David A. Paterson said the New York State Insurance Department (NYSID) recovered $13.6 million from insurance companies on behalf of nearly 3,000 consumers and health care providers during the second quarter of 2009.Paterson said recoveries between April 1 and June 30 were up from $8.5 million recovered during the first three months of the year — bringing total recoveries for 2009 to nearly $22 million."Insurance is a promise to protect us at our most vulnerable, and New Yorkers can rely on us to protect them if insurance companies do not keep their promises," Paterson said...
