The death of Amelia Mendoza arose out of and in the course of employment, a workers' compensation administrative law judge ruled last week. Judge Jerold Cohn ruled that Amelia Mendoza's death was work-related last week, bringing the case to a close more than two years after her dates of injury. Mendoza, a former nurse at the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, was injured when she was attacked by a violent patient on two occasions in April 2009.
