House Passes Bill Requiring Licensing Boards to Create Opioid-Prescribing Guidelines

The Oregon House of Representatives passed a bill that would require medical professional licensing boards to develop and distribute guidelines or recommendations for prescribing opioids. House Bill 2114, by Rep. Mitch Greenlick, D-Portland, would also require the Oregon Medical Board, Oregon State Board of Nursing and Oregon Board of Dentistry to notify licensees about the “Oregon Opioid Prescribing Guidelines: Recommendations for the Safe Use of Opioid Medications,” which was endorsed by the medical board in January.
