Tree Service Owner Admits Defrauding State Out of $22,000 in Premiums

A tree service company in Medina County has pleaded guilty to workers’ compensation fraud and owes the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation $22,000 in back premiums. Robert D. Matusiak canceled his policy with the bureau in 2004 but continued to operate his business, Rob’s Tree Service, in Brunswick, investigators said. The plea wound up a probe that began in 2012 after investigators said Matusiak tried to circumvent the system and avoid paying his debts by applying for a new policy using deceptive information, including his wife’s name and a different address. ...
