Supreme Court Puts PHI Air Ambulance Case on Hold During Bankruptcy

The Texas Supreme Court has placed a hold on a much-anticipated case that could help determine if air ambulance bills can be limited by the state's workers' compensation reimbursement rules. In Texas Mutual Insurance Co., et al. v. PHI Air Medical, the court on Friday agreed with a petition filed by PHI, asking the court to abate the case while the company's bankruptcy proceeding continues. PHI filed for Chapter 11 protection March 14, noting that it had about $700 million in debt, including $500 million in unsecured notes that matured the next day, which it was unable to repay. ...
