L&I Approves 2.5% Rate Decrease to Take Effect Jan. 1

The Washington Department of Labor & Industries announced Thursday that Director Joel Sacks has approved a 2.5% decrease in the average amount that employers and workers pay for workers’ compensation coverage. “We’ve made several improvements that are helping injured workers heal, return to work sooner and avoid long-term disability,” Sacks said in a press release. “We’ve also used small rate increases in recent years to make the workers’ compensation system healthier and to build our contingency reserve.
