A divided Colorado Supreme Court on Monday ruled that an administrative worker's injuries from a tumble down a flight of stairs at her office was compensable because the fall would not have occurred if her job duties hadn't required her to be on the stairs.Under the state's longstanding "but-for" test for compensability, the court's majority reasoned that a fall with a truly unknown cause "arises out of" employment if the worker's employment placed her in the position where she was injured.
