A Chicago manufacturing plant where 15 workers have suffered amputations in the past five years is facing $503,380 in proposed penalties from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
BWAY Corp., a manufacturer of rigid metal, plastic and hybrid containers, has also been placed in OSHA’s severe violator program. OSHA issued citations for five repeated and five serious violations of machine safety procedures following inspections this year. The company has 15 days to contest the citations.
