A Republican lawmaker has introduced legislation that would rename the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, provide incentives for employers to participate in loss-prevention programs and reduce benefits for retirees.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Michael Henne of Clayton, would change the agency’s name to the Office of Employee Safety and Rehabilitation, although Henne told National Public Radio, “I’m not married to the name.”
Under the bill, compensation for total permanent disability would cease when an employee reached full retirement age.
