Chemical Hazards Bring $72,100 in OSHA Fines

A New Jersey chemical manufacturer is facing $72,100 in fines after the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration found workers fire and explosion hazards. OSHA on Feb. 4 issued citations for 17 serious safety and health violations to Elan Chemical Co. in Newark after inspecting the plant the previous August under its national emphasis program focused on chemical manufacturers.
