OSHA Cites Contractor for Excavation Hazards

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited a Dracut, Mass., construction contractor for excavation and other hazards at a job site in Nashua, N.H.OSHA said in a press release inspectors recommended $55,660 in fines against DeFelice Inc. Inspectors observed a DeFelice employee working in an inadequately guarded excavation that was more than 8 feet deep.OSHA standards require that trenches or excavations 5 feet deep or deeper must be protected against collapse.
