Judge Says Medical Cost Containment Antitrust Suit Can Proceed

A federal trial judge in Pennsylvania is allowing an anti-trust suit against the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to go forward.  Premier Comp Solutions, a medical cost-containment company based in Pittsburgh, accuses the hospital of abusing its status as a monopolistic health care provider in Western Pennsylvania to force it out of the bill-review market. UPMC had moved to dismiss the complaint, asserting it did not state a viable claim for relief.
