The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued 11 citations with fines totaling $74,600 to Louis Gherlone Evacating of Orange, Conn., for alleged violations during construction at a Walgreens construction site in New Haven.OSHA reported it opened its inspection on July 26 after an agency inspector “spotted Gherlone employees working in unprotected trenches seven to nine feet in depth.”OSHA standards require that all trenches five feet or deeper be protected against collapse.The agency issued the company one willful citation with a $56,000 fine for alleged lack of cave-in ...
