A Northern California woman who was caught double-dipping was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to a felony workers’ compensation fraud charge, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.
Rashimir Salazar, of Woodland, was also ordered to pay $9,820.86 in restitution, serve two years' probation and perform 40 hours of community service, the office said in a press release.
Salazar was injured in February 2014 while working for Woodland Residential Services, a company that provides care to developmentally disabled clients. She began receiving temporary total disability benefits and eventually was paid $13,567.92.
CompWest Insurance investigators learned that Salazar was working for a private customer while receiving TTD benefits but withheld that information from the carrier, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
