Texas Mutual Reports Contractor Indicted on Fraud Charges

Texas Mutual Insurance Co. reported Thursday that a Travis County grand jury has indicted Howard Douglas Whiddon of Dripping Springs and his Austin business, Whiddon Masonry and Stucco, Inc., on workers’ compensation fraud-related charges.Whiddon Masonry and Stucco was in the masonry and stucco business throughout Texas, the carrier said.Texas Mutual has alleged that between Nov. 9, 2004, and Jan. 30, 2008, Whiddon intentionally misrepresented the operations and payroll of a related company, Veranda Masonry, Inc."Because workers’ compensation insurance premium is based, in part, on...
