Rep. Herbert Richardson, R-Lancaster, has introduced a bill that would penalize insurers for late workers’ compensation payments to workers.
House Bill 1417 would require any employer, carrier, self-insurer or claims adjusting company that “willfully and without good cause” failed to make timely payments to pay twice the amount of the benefits.
An order for the doubling of benefits would occur after a hearing before the Department of Labor, the bill states.
