A New York City Lyft driver has sued the ride-share company in state court, accusing it of illegally charging both passengers and drivers a 2.5% fee per ride in order to pay into a workers' compensation fund.
Gustavo Camilo filed the suit in the New York Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The suit alleges unlawful wage deductions, breach of contract and unjust enrichment. It seeks class-action status and a jury trial, saying Lyft's requirement for drivers to arbitrate all disputes is "unconscionable and against public policy."
