Pallet Maker Cited After Carbon Monoxide Sickens Workers

A pallet manufacturer in Genoa, Illinois, is facing proposed federal penalties of $216,253 after 10 employees required emergency medical treatment for carbon monoxide exposure. Cleary Pallet Sales Inc. was issued citations on June 29 by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The company has 15 business days to contest the citations. OSHA investigators inspected the facility in January and found that employees were exposed to carbon monoxide levels nearly 10 times the permissible exposure limit.
