A doctor indicted last year on 14 prescription drug fraud charges pleaded guilty to charges of promoting a dangerous drug and promoting a harmful drug, the Hawaii Tribune reports.
Dr. Clifton Arrington initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in the August 2017 indictment accusing him of pre-dating or pre-signing prescriptions for controlled substances.
Arrington on March 22 pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and three counts of second-degree promotion of a harmful drug. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor “prohibited act” charge that is not described in the Hawaii Tribune article.
Prosecutors will file a motion to dismiss the remaining charges ahead of a sentencing hearing scheduled for Oct. 23.
Arrington’s license to practice medicine in Hawaii, and his license to dispense narcotics and medical marijuana, are still active. A spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety told the Tribune it could she could not comment on pending investigations.
