Mattress Maker Faces $77,000 Fine Following Accident

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined a Colorado Springs mattress manufacturer $77,000 after a post-accident inspection identified one serious and one willful violation. OSHA said L&P Springs Manufacturing exposed workers to crushing hazards by not properly guarding a machine that compresses, rolls and wraps innerspring pads. The company also failed to train workers effectively on the use and limitations of work gloves when working with manufacturing equipment, according to OSHA.
