The Nevada Supreme Court last week ruled that an employer cannot be held civilly liable for its failure to provide medical assistance to an employee who had suffered a stroke at work.
Although Israel Baiguen’s risk of injury from a stroke had nothing to do with his job at a Harrah’s Casino, the court said the risk of harm due to the delay in treatment was employment-related.
The court said that connection to his employment limited Baiguen to a remedy under the workers’ compensation system.
Baiguen had worked for the housekeeping department at Harrah’s Las Vegas.
