Attorneys Should Send Representation Notices Electronically, Commission Says

The South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission is encouraging attorneys to file their notices of representation electronically to save time and money.
Attorneys who represent parties in a workers' compensation case are required to notify the commission in writing. For decades, that had to be done through the mail. Now, it can be done through eCase, the commission's online reporting interface.
"Using eCase to notice the commission of an attorney’s representation ensures that the attorney is promptly added to the correct file in a time-efficient and accurate manner," the commission's bulletin reads. "Written letters of representation printed out and physically sent to the commission by mail are costly, time-consuming and at greater risk of being recorded in error."
