Board Will Allow Access to New Claims Management System in July

Starting in July, the Georgia Board of Workers' Compensation will begin phase two of its integrated claims management system, which utilizes new electronic data interchange standards, the board announced.
The board will soon grant access to insurers, self-insured employers, group funds and claims adjusters to learn how to use the system. Georgia is one of several states making the switch this year to the more robust 3.1 claims-reporting standard, adopted by the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions.
The new standard requires much more data to be reported in the claims, and third-party software is being developed, officials have said. No electronic data interchange vendors will be permitted to access the new system or participate in training sessions while it is phased in, the board said.
More information about access to the claims management system will be posted on the board's website in coming weeks.
