A St. Louis man who worked for a manufacturer of seating products has accused his former employer of firing him just days after he filed a workers’ comp claim.
Samuel Jackson filed a complaint on July 2 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Vitro Products Inc., doing business as Vitro Seating Products, the St. Louis Record reported.
Jackson claims that he reported pain in his elbow to his employer in February 2017 and asked to see a doctor. He alleges he was fired on Feb. 20, 2017, in retaliatory discharge for filing a workers’ comp claim.
Jackson is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and any additional relief that the court decides is appropriate.
