Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed into law a bill that could allow doctors to receive a bonus for treating firefighters with compensable cancer claims.
Ige, a Democrat, on Thursday enacted House Bill 1778, by Rep. Scott Saiki, D-McMully. The bill takes effect immediately and allows the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations discretion in setting reimbursement rates for cancer care.
