Recycling Co. Fined $318,000 for Improper Gas Storage, Lax Training Enforcement

A Georgia recycling company that failed to report an amputation within 24 hours was cited for nearly $318,000 worth of workplace safety violations this week. Each citation issued to Columbia Recycling Corp. carried a fine, and the Dalton employer received nine as the result of an April inspection. Inspectors say Columbia Recycling stored gas cylinders and liquefied petroleum improperly, failed to ensure forklift operators had been trained, and required people to work dangerously close to electrical equipment.
