The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation has given final approval to new rules that will make it easier for self-insured companies to hand off their comp coverage to commercial carriers.
The adopted rules, published last week in the Texas Register, allow the self-insured to get its deposit back as long as the new carrier is in good standing and has agreed to cover all open, reopened and incurred but unreported claims during the entire period that the company operated as a self-insurer.
