Lawmaker Proposes $150 Hourly Cap on Claimants' Attorney Fees

House Insurance & Banking Subcommittee Chairman Danny Burgess, R-Zephyrhills, has prefiled for the 2018 session legislation that would cap claimants’ attorney fees at $150 an hour and would require the annual adoption of schedules of maximum reimbursement allowances. House Bill 7009 mirrors HB 7085, which Burgess introduced last spring and which passed the House on a 76-43 vote May 5 before dying in the Senate.
