Nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in Ohio fell 9% last year and dropped well below the national average for the fourth consecutive year, according to national statistics cited by the state Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says Ohio experienced 2.7 injuries per 100 full-time employees in 2016; the national average was 3.2. The rate for private employers was 2.7, versus a national average of 2.9, while the rate for public-sector workers was 3.1, versus a national average of 4.7.
