Bronx Restaurant Owner Accused of Fraud

A Bronx restaurant owner and one of his employees have been arrested for claiming to be hurt – but continuing to work -- in separate cases of workers’ compensation fraud that had would have cost the carrier up to $359,600 in benefits, the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) announced.Pietro Mellampe, 66, and Ann Marie Defalco, 50, were arrested March 19 by the Office of Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson on charges of grand larceny, insurance fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.Investigators said Mellampe, owner of II Castillo Lido Restaurant on City Island, rece...
