U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez on Wednesday said there might be a role for federal oversight of workers' compensation systems if states continue to strip away benefits and shift costs to taxpayers.
The Labor Department released a 43-page report, titled "Does the Workers' Compensation System Fulfill its Obligation to Injured Workers?", during the State Workers’ Compensation Forum sponsored by the department and the National Academy for Social Insurance.
