Bills on Out-of-State Claims, Wage Calculation Take Effect July 1

Three bills passed by Iowa lawmakers this year dealing with out-of-state claims, calculation of weekly wages and burial expenses are scheduled to take effect July 1.House File 2542 deals with work-related injuries suffered and claims made outside of Iowa. The measure reverses a 2003 Iowa Supreme Court decision that held that Iowa employees were not entitled to compensation if they're injured outside Iowa.
