Division Sets Payroll Requirement for Covering Seasonal Ag Workers

The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation has set the annual adjusted payroll requirement for an employer for coverage of seasonal agricultural workers with workers’ compensation at $48,833 for 2009.That amount is up from $46,423, an increase of 5.2% based on the inflation rate as calculated by the comptroller of public accounts.“This gross payroll amount will be used in year 2009 to apply against an agricultural employer’s year 2008 gross payroll and to determine whether a farm or ranch worker is covered by workers’ compensation insurance,” the division r...
