Police Department Hits Bureaucratic Snags in Attempt to Renew Self-Insurance Plan

Kansas' Riley County Police Department has hit a snag in its attempt to renew its self-funded workers' compensation insurance plan, The Mercury reports.
Last year, the Police Department, Riley County and the city of Manhattan all earmarked money in their accounts to go toward the $1.1 million fund.
This year, the state wants the entities to place that money directly into the fund before it approves the plan. The state has also declined to provide feedback on unfinished documents before reviewing them in their final form.
"The process this year was even more frustrating than last year," RCPD Director Brad Schoen told The Mercury.
