Texan Bank President Appointed to Texas Mutual Board

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Kristi Koncaba, president and chief operating officer at Texan Bank, to the board of directors for Texas Mutual Insurance Co., the carrier said in a press release Tuesday.

Koncaba has 15 years of experience in commercial banking. She is a co-founder of both Family Bancorp Inc. and Friendswood Capital Corp. Friendswood is the bank-holding company for Texan Bank, where she serves as executive vice president, chief operating officer and secretary. 

Koncaba is chairwoman of the advisory board of the Bay Area YMCA and serves on the boards of Texan Bank; Friendswood Capital Corp.; Innovative Alternatives Inc.; the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce; and the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce.

She is also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the Texas Bay Area Society of Human Resource Management, the HR Certification Institute, HR Houston and Financial Women in Texas. 

Koncaba has been named a Women Creating Change honoree by Change magazine. She received the University of Houston-Clear Lake Early Achievement Award and, most recently, earned the Perry Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year award in 2017. 

In addition, John Swanson, president and chief executive officer of Utica Resource Ventures LLC, has been re-appointed to another term on the Texas Mutual board, the carrier said. Swanson was first appointed to the board in May 2012 by former Gov. Rick Perry.
