The superintendent of Maine's insurance bureau urged the state's insurance agents to pay attention to the liquidation of California carrier CastlePoint National Insurance Co., as the proceeding may affect insurers with which agents work.
Eric Cioppa sent the memo to all Maine-headquartered insurance agencies this week. CastlePoint had merged with nine companies, and five of them do consistent enough business in Maine to warrant concern from Cioppa.
