Industrial Commission Reminds Carriers to Register for E-Filing

Thursday, September 14, 2017 | 0

The Idaho Industrial Commission said carriers could lose their authority to write workers’ compensation insurance in the state if they don’t register as trading partners before new electronic reporting requirements take effect in November.

The commission is adopting Electronic Data Interchange Claims Release 3.0, and will mandate electronic submission of first reports of injury and subsequent reports of injury starting Nov. 4. Carriers that have not registered as a trading partner by Nov. 4 “will be considered out of compliance with the requirements for the proper reporting of injuries ... and prompt claims adjusting,” the commission said in a statement.

Any carrier deemed noncompliant “may be required to appear before the commission to show cause why its authority to write workers’ compensation insurance in the state of Idaho should not be withdrawn,” the commission said.

The commission said multiple comp carriers did not register as EDI trading partners during a 45-day period in February and May and have not started system testing prior to the launch date.

Carriers that need to register as trading partners can do so here.
