Gov. Eric Greitens on Monday signed an executive order to create a prescription drug monitoring program in Missouri, the only state that does not yet have such a system, which is widely regarded as a key tool in combatting the opioid epidemic.
The Republican governor’s order comes after lawmakers again failed to pass PDMP legislation during the 2017 session, and it follows successful efforts in St. Louis County to establish a PDMP, a system that went online on April 25.
