A Washington state Senate committee passed a bill proposing to eliminate the offset for injured workers who had applied or were already receiving Social Security retirement benefits before the date of their injury.
The Senate Committee on Labor and Commerce on Thursday voted 5-1 to pass House Bill 1336, by Rep. Steve Kirby, D-Tacoma.
The bill would limit the amount by which the Washington state Department of Labor and Industries reduces workers’ compensation benefits paid to injured workers receiving Social Security.
